Differences Between Fashion Design and Stylist Education

We have compiled the details of the Fashion Design and Stylist professions that have created confusion in the fashion industry for many years.

Production and design are two different departments in the fashion industry. Professionals who will work in the production department are expected to master the pattern preparation and sewing processes, while the professionals who will work in the design department are expected to master the processes of technical drawing, digital design and holistic collection preparation.

Our modeling education program students in our departments in our education programs specialize in "mold and sewing" techniques during the 10-month training. Our stylist education program students, on the other hand, specialize in technical drawing, digital design and collection preparation techniques during the 10-month training.

The important point here is that Modeling is the production of the work, Design is the field where the work is managed and competition is ensured, and a good designer must also know the pattern and sewing, as it will be difficult to manage a subject whose production you do not know.

The training program in which both production and design infrastructure is gained at the same time is called Fashion Design.

To sum this up with a simple formula; Fashion Design = Modeling + Stylism

In your mind, "Which section would be more suitable for me?" If there is a question, you should first determine in which field you want to improve yourself. For example, if you have a pattern and sewing infrastructure, then the Stylists department will be a better choice to gain infrastructure in the design area. If you have a background in the field of design, then it would be better to choose the Modeling department to learn pattern and sewing techniques. If you are starting from scratch, then by participating in the Fashion Design program, you will gain a background in both pattern and sewing and design at the same time.

Remember that the most important thing to make is "time". Learning both parts at the same time will be an intense process especially for working people. For this reason, if you are working, it will be more beneficial for you to start with a single section, review your goals after the training, do you want to design or do you want to make molds and sew? Here, if you say “I want to design” Stylist, if you say “I want to make molds and sew and create the outfit” then it will be more productive for you to start with the modeling training. If you are not going to work during the education period and your time is available, then you can improve yourself in both areas by choosing the Fashion Design department.
